President Tatar attended the symposium on “Ombudsman and Youth Claiming Culture” held at Girne American University.
Tatar made a speech at the symposium attended by Turkish Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç and gave information about the work of the ombudsman institution in the TRNC.
Referring to the Cyprus problem, Tatar said, “Our new policy is that with the full support of the Republic of Turkey, there can be an agreement with the cooperation of two separate sovereign equal states living side by side in Cyprus. Our new policy is the policy of right and law. It won’t be possible to get together.” he said.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people have been pressured for a federal treaty in various negotiations for years, Tatar emphasized that they never kneeled down, but always chose an independent, free and honorable life.
Tatar noted that he will always protect the legitimate rights and laws of the Turkish Cypriot people with the support of their motherland Turkey.
