In Nigeria, Zamfara Police Commissioner Ayuba Elkana announced that an operation was carried out against armed gangs in the Shinkafi region of the state.
During the operation, 24 people, including 5 students, were rescued.
It was stated that the hostages were in good health, and they were handed over to the Zamfara state government.
Zamfara province has been the scene of fierce conflicts between the Fulani, who have been dealing with animal husbandry for 5 years, and some tribes engaged in farming.
The Fulani, who migrated to the south of the country to graze their animals, claim that the farmers tried to steal their animals and attacked them.
About 2 thousand people lost their lives due to conflicts in the region, thousands of people had to leave their homes.
Under the leadership of Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the two groups signed a peace agreement to end the conflicts between them in 2019, and more than 2,000 gang members laid down their arms.
