US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price, in his written statement, stated that the talks between the US officials and the Taliban took place in a friendly environment.
US officials met with the Taliban for the first time after the Taliban took control of the country, while officials from different US institutions attended the meetings held in Doha on 9-10 October.
Human rights issues were discussed
During the talks, the issue of ensuring the safe exit of Americans and citizens of other countries who want to leave Afghanistan was a priority. In addition, human rights issues in the country, including adequate representation of women, were discussed and it was underlined that the US would directly assist the Afghan people.
During the talks, the US side emphasized that it would determine the roadmap by looking at the actions of the Taliban rather than their words.
