According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, consumer prices increased by 14.13 percent and domestic producer prices by 22.24 percent as of May, taking into account the 12-month averages.
On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.89 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 3.92 percent.
Annual inflation was 16.59 percent in consumer prices and 38.33 percent in domestic producer prices.
Rents can be increased by a maximum of 14.13 percent
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), as of May, consumer prices increased by 14.13 percent compared to the twelve-month averages. Accordingly, the owners will be able to legally raise their tenants by a maximum of 14.13 percent.
The legal rent increase rate is calculated by taking the 12-month CPI average of the month following the expiry of the lease agreement. Homeowners cannot increase above this rate.
If the landlords raise the rate exceeding the legal rate, the tenant has the right to object to this situation by law.
