One of the most important steps in education life is choosing a school. One of the toughest decisions for students and families.
There are months before the new school year begins, but parents have already started researching.
So what should be considered in choosing a school?
Gazi University Faculty of Education academic staff member Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akif Sözer said, “First of all, children’s interests and abilities come first. That is, choosing a school that will develop children’s existing interests and abilities and reveal them in time is important here,” he said.
The ideal school for one child can make another unhappy. For this reason, experts recommend that the personal development characteristics of the child should be taken into account when choosing a school.
“The child should be included in the school selection process”
Prof. Dr. Sözer warned that a choice should be made by asking teachers’ qualifications, experience, methods and techniques used in the course while choosing a school.
According to experts, it is important to include the child in the school selection process in order to avoid adaptation problems.
“It is very important that the child liked school”
Prof. Dr. Sözer continued his speech as follows:
“It is very important that families go to school with their children, see the school together, see it on the spot and adopt that the child loves the school. Because when cognitive development is not supported sensory processes, we cannot achieve enough success.”
