President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan published a message on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Making a statement on his social media account, President Erdoğan said, “I wish that the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women will be instrumental in the complete disappearance of this problem, which our faith, civilization and values stand against. Violence against women, which is a violation of human rights, is unfortunately the problem of the whole world. Turkey ranks first among the countries with the most comprehensive and effective legislation against this problem. Last July, we announced the 4th National Action Plan for Combating Violence Against Women, and determined 5 main objectives, 28 strategies and 227 activities. We will continue to take all necessary legal and administrative measures depending on the changing conditions and emerging needs.
My dear nation… We must not forget that the fight against violence against women is also the struggle to protect the rights, law and honor of our mothers, spouses and daughters. Elimination of this problem is possible with the belief, effort and agreement of all parties. We have stood by women in their struggle for rights in every field, and we will continue to do so in the future. I hope we will completely eliminate violence against women by strengthening our human and moral values. We are determined.”
