The 400-meter-long, 62-meter-wide and 232,618-gross vessel, which set off from Port Said in Egypt, docked at Asyaport.
Asiaport Port Planning Manager Captain Gökmen Azaklı told reporters that MSC Samar is the largest container ship to come to Turkey.
Stating that the ship will leave Tekirdağ tomorrow, Azaklı said:
“The ship docked at Asyaport due to the congestion in European ports. This ship can only dock at this port in our country. Ships of this size can only be handled at our port. The ship will leave the port after 3,082 containers are unloaded. It is an extremely proud event for us. This kind of large Ships reveal the economy of the countries they call and their importance in the maritime sector.
Azatlı presented a plaque to the captain of the ship.
The ship will sail to Valencia, Spain, after its activity in the port of Asyaport.
