The announcement came hours before Macron was scheduled for a charity match with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to raise money for the Hospitals Foundation.
Macron said the government will provide $232 million to help finance around 1,000 judo schools, 1,000 city parks, and 5,000 facilities, including multiple basketball and handball courts and small mobile swimming pools, by 2024.
Stating that this step aims to correct injustice, Macron pointed out that the places where the said facilities are lacking are generally the poorest regions of the country.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will be the city’s first Olympics since 1924. A budget of $7.9 billion was allocated for the Olympics.
