Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his US counterpart Antony Blinken made a brief statement before their bilateral meeting at a hotel in New York.
“We will continue to work together on Afghanistan”
Stating that they talked to Blinken on the phone many times, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said, “Thank you very much for your excellent cooperation in Afghanistan and in many fields. Of course, we will continue to work together on Afghanistan, we will continue our cooperation. We will continue our cooperation in other areas. We will do our best to continue our cooperation,” he said.
“We are very grateful to Turkey for its strong partnership in Afghanistan”
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on the other hand, underlined that they have had many phone conversations with Çavuşoğlu in the last 9 months and said, “We have a lot to talk about today, but we are very grateful to Turkey for its strong partnership in Afghanistan and we will continue to work together here.”
Stating that they will also discuss Syria and the Caucasus at today’s meeting, Blinken described Turkey and the USA as “strong partners and NATO ally”.
