After months of leaks and rumors adorning the internet, the iPhone 13 series is now officially introduced by Apple. The latest iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have a slightly fresher design, but the main improvement is in the body.
Apple is still sticking to the flat edge frame of the iPhone 12 series. Design changes including smaller bangs are still able to fit all the sensors needed, including for Face ID. Meanwhile, the rear camera is now positioned diagonally.
The iPhone 13 mini has a 5.4-inch screen while the iPhone 13 packs a 6.1-inch screen. The Super Retina screens on both smartphones have been protected by Ceramic Shield. Both smartphones are available in Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and (Product) RED.
Now! Inside the body, this latest iPhone 13 duo has been driven by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset. It is a 5nm chipset having a six-core CPU (2x high-performance cores + 4x high-efficiency cores). Apple says the CPU is 50% faster than the competition, while the GPU is 30% faster.
There is no mention of the amount of RAM embedded in this device, which is a hallmark of Apple. However, for consumers curious about the internal storage capacity, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini now start at 128 GB and go up to 512 GB.
There are still two cameras on the back of the iPhone 13 duo but now they are arranged diagonally. There’s a new wide-angle camera that captures up to 47% more light. The ultra-wide angle camera also captures more detail in low light.
Apple has also brought the sensor-shift optical image stabilization feature from the Pro model to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. There are also new and exciting camera features. Top of the list is Cinematic Mode which holds focus on the subject and automatically switches it to a new, prominent subject that has entered the scene like in a movie.
Users can also adjust the bokeh effect after shooting. Other features include Night mode, Portrait mode, Deep Fusion, and Smart HDR 4 which recognizes up to four different people in a scene and optimizes contrast, exposure and skin tone for each person.
The battery life on the iPhone 13 and 13 mini has also been improved. The former now has up to 2.5 hours longer while the mini model gets up to an additional 1.5 hours of battery life. The iPhone 13 series supports 20W fast charging via cable, 15W MagSafe wireless charging, and 7.5W Qi wireless charging.
